How do I sign up?
Register for HoosierShare
- Sign up. If you already have an Uber account, sign up for HoosierShare through the secure enrollment form. If you are downloading Uber for the first time, create an Uber account, then enter your IU credentials on the secure enrollment form.
- Get approved. Once your IU affiliation is verified, HoosierShare will appear as an option in the Uber app.
- Request a ride. Open the Uber app, enter your pickup and drop-off destination, and select HoosierShare as your ride option to request a shared ride with fellow Hoosiers heading in a similar direction.

Where can I ride?
HoosierShare rides are available within the IU Ride service zone around Bloomington. Trips must begin and end inside the designated service area.
Can I ride with friends?
HoosierShare allows just one person per booking, with up to three people per ride. If you are traveling with a friend or a group, book an UberX instead.
How many people will be on my ride?
HoosierShare will match you with up to two other individual riders, for a maximum of three passengers from different parties in the vehicle at one time. HoosierShare is designed to add no more than 8 minutes on average to your trip.
How much does HoosierShare cost?
HoosierShare rides can cost up to 20% less than standard UberX fares because riders share trips with one or two IU community members traveling in the same direction.
How is HoosierShare different from UberX?
HoosierShare allows riders to share trips with other IU community members, lowering costs while riding stress-free.
